If a dog regularly rehearses pulling, ignoring recall, barking at visitors or reacting to every trigger, those behaviours become easier to repeat. Hope is not a training plan. Annoying how dogs keep learning when we are not officially training them.

Life Skills Group Program
For dogs who are generally comfortable around other dogs and people but need better focus, lead skills, recall and emotional regulation. Selected Life Skills intakes are held at Raleigh Hall.

Life Skills classes run at Raleigh Hall, close to Urunga, Mylestom, Repton, Fernmount and Bellingen. Its quieter rural setting gives us room to establish useful behaviour before adding the distractions dogs meet in everyday life.

Do you offer dog training for people living in Raleigh?
Yes. Raleigh Hall is a Life Skills class venue for The Operant Dog. We work with people from Raleigh, Urunga, Mylestom, Repton, Fernmount, Bellingen and nearby communities.
Where are the Life Skills group classes held?
Selected Life Skills intakes run at Raleigh Hall. Each intake card lists the venue, time, all seven dates and current availability before you continue to enrol.
Can reactive dogs attend group classes?
The group program is not suitable for dogs who bark, lunge, freeze, fixate or become overwhelmed around other dogs or people. Reactivity Support is usually the safer and more productive starting point.
Is Life Skills suitable for an overexcited dog?
Often, yes. Life Skills is designed for dogs who can safely work around others but need help with excitement, distraction, pulling, frustration, recall or settling.
Do you use reinforcement-based training?
Yes. Training focuses on reinforcement, clear communication and helping dogs develop skills that work in everyday environments. Harsh corrections are not used or permitted.
